Food and Family have always been really important to Chris and Mel Corbett. The couple have lived in Redding, Ca. since 1978, and since 1981 have been their own bosses. They together purchased Pancho Villa, a Mexican eatery in historic pine street school and changed the name to El Papagayo which in a very short time became very successful.
Working side by side the Corbett’s purchased their second restaurant in 1983 at 1455 Pine St and named it Corbett’s Restaurant. Which has since grown to be a Redding icon.
In February, when a third restaurant location became available on Churn creek road, the Corbett’s bought and transformed it into the Streamside Café and Grill. At that time all three restaurants combined employed over 60 people in the Redding area.
No matter how involved Chris and Mel Corbett became in the day to day handlings of running three busy restaurants they always made time for family. That is also the way they treat their employees as well… just like family. And 33 years later that is still the way Chris and Mel run Corbett’s Restaurant today.
